Hi, I’m Chia-Ti!

Woman wears a green tank top and black yoga pants poses with her hands on her hips in the Sahara Desert, surrounded by orange sand dunes and cloud streaked sky in Merzouga Morocco..

After two decades plus of walking this path, my purpose remains steadfast: making wellness accessible, affordable, and relevant for all. Teaching in and learning from the communities that I am a part of gives me so much joy and purpose. I’ve taught teens, adults, and elders all over the 5 boroughs of New York in healthcare facilities, community centers, foster care, afterschool programs, and youth detention centers. I also lead international retreats, which combines my love of travel and wellness.

I have taught with and led trainings for the Lineage Project, Garrison Institute's Contemplative-Based Resilience (CBR) Project, CUNY, Bed-Stuy Family Health Center, Insight Meditation Society, Trinity Church, Center for Trauma Resilient Communities, among others. From 2010 to 2020, I ran an annual yoga and arts program in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and established an educational fund program that supported 40-50 Haitian children to attend school each year. I have presented at Mindfulness in America, been featured on podcasts, and speak on panels and conferences.

I feel so blessed to be able to share wellness with others – especially because I didn’t set out to become a yoga teacher at all. In my early twenties, I was performing poetry professionally in New York City. I decided to go to Beijing for a year to learn Mandarin and then come back to continue performing. Who knew I would leave China early, travel through Southeast Asia for 5 months, and ultimately end up in an ashram in southern India? I spent 6 life-changing months in India, and I will be forever grateful for whatever divine hand that guided me to this path. When I returned to New York, I was able to start teaching yoga right away. My very first gig was teaching 9th graders at a public high school in the Bronx. Appropriately, the school was called Discovery High School. Not only have I discovered so much about myself on my own spiritual journey, I find meaning in supporting others into growth and all-around well-being.

May we, collectively, start to liberate ourselves and each other from suffering. And may we all live with health, connection, playfulness, lightness, moments of deep rest, and ease.

One love.
